Overview
The Judiciary plays an important role in implementing and promoting international law within the Pakistani legal framework. Domestic courts that openly engage with international law in their judgments provide fertile ground for the interpretation and evolution of the state’s own law. It is thus pertinent to recognize the role of the Judiciary in the implementation of international law in Pakistan. This Section aims to provide an overview of Pakistan’s international legal obligations, which will entail a discussion on the sources of international law and the role of international law in upholding the domestic rule of law. Subsequently, this section will outline the way in which Pakistani Courts have strived to implement international law in the State to reflect upon the significance of the judicial process in the enforcement of human rights standards.
